    THE 10th Creative December will open in Shenzhen on Sunday with 151 activities to be held during the event.

    Initiated in 2005, the annual event is a monthlong gala that aims to boost Shenzhen’s cultural industries and encourage the public to participate in cultural events and be more creative in general.

    The activities cover nine categories — creative design, industrial arts, calligraphy and painting, theatrical performances, film and television, press and publication, animation and games, tourism and leisure, and tangible and intangible cultural heritages.

    Sixteen international activities, including the China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Festival, the Global Game Branding Summit and the world final of Elite Model Look, will be held during the event.

    Creative December will also feature interactive activities, including a hand-painted kite competition for children, a comic book and animation design contest for college students, a dance competition, a calligraphy and painting competition for migrant workers and a paper-cutting contest for local residents.

    The organizers said the schedule of this year’s Creative December has been extended. Some of the activities started several months before December and some that start this month will continue until next year.

    Enterprises and creative organizations have been playing a vital part in Creative December, said the orgainzers. They participate in the annual event to showcase their creative products and services, while the event helps them build business connections and speed up the industrial transformation of creative achievements.
