SHENZHEN Metro Group will operate light rails of Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, according to an agreement signed with the country’s railway company Tuesday.

The agreement marked the first time that Shenzhen’s experience in Metro maintenance and operation has been exported overseas.

According to the agreement, the maintenance and operation contract will start in the first quarter of 2015 and last for 41 months. The contract is worth US$100 million and services include two light rails in Addis Ababa.

During the contractual period, Shenzhen Metro Group, in partnership with China Railway Group Co., will send professionals to provide safe and high-quality light-rail services, help the country build a systematic, complete light-rail operation system and train managerial and technical employees in Ethiopia.
