Lawrence makes debut on Billboard
     2014-December-5  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“THE Hanging Tree,” which Jennifer Lawrence sings in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1,” just debuted on the Billboard chart, coming in at No. 12. It landed at No. 14 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and it’s now at No. 12 on ARIA’s Australian Top 50 Singles Chart.

Composed by James Newton Howard, the haunting folk song’s lyrics are by “Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins, while “Ho Hey” singers The Lumineers collaborated on the track. In the film, Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen performs the song and it quickly becomes an anthem for the rebellion.

Though the song is now an obvious success, Lawrence confessed to David Letterman in November that the experience of singing on set was “awful.” “I’m like scarred from my childhood because I have a Southern mother who would just tell me that I was amazing at everything, that I could do everything. But, I can’t.”(SD-Agencies)
