THE Chinese mainland release of “Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” has again been pushed back. The date has been set for Feb. 8 of next year.
The film is reportedly rescheduled for its new date to capitalize on the coming Lunar New Year holiday when China sees its biggest theater turnout.
This time, the weeklong New Year holiday lands on Feb. 19.
“Mockingjay — Part 1” has already earned more than US$600 million worldwide over its three weeks in theaters.
Part 1 of the “Hunger Games” finale was initially set to open in China in late November.
The film was first pushed back to January to give domestic titles a chance to even their 2014 bottom line against Hollywood imports after “Transformers: Age of Extinction” became the highest-grossing movie of all time on the mainland.
