    Meaning:

“娘” is the northern Chinese address for “mom,” and can be a general term when used with other characters, such as “新娘” which means “bride” and “大娘” which means “old woman.” Chinese netizens have given the character a meaning by using it as an adjective. It means “sissy” when used to describe a man, his dressing style or the stuff he uses.

    Example:

    A: 你的快递到了。又网购了什么?

Nǐ de kuàidì dào le。 Yòu wǎnggòu le shénme?

Your parcel has arrived. What did you buy online this time?

    B: 这是我女朋友送我的圣诞礼物。

Zhè shì wǒ nǚpéngyǒu sòng wǒ de shèngdàn lǐwù。

This is supposed to be a Christmas gift from my girlfriend.

    A: 啊,一只包包。还真娘啊。

    A, yīzhī bāobāo。 Hái zhēn niáng a。

Wow, a bag. Isn’t it sissy?

    B: 这是放平板电脑的包,男士用的!

Zhè shì fàng píngbǎn diànnǎo de bāo, nánshì yòng de!

It’s a men’s bag, so you can carry your iPad!
