David Schwimmer to play Kardashian’s father
     2014-December-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ROSS GELLER is joining the Kardashian family — well, sort of. “Friends” star David Schwimmer has boarded the FX miniseries “American Crime Story,” from “American Horror Story” and “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy, playing O.J.’s friend and powerful defense attorney Robert Kardashian.

Schwimmer’s casting beefs up a growing ensemble for “American Crime Story,” which already includes Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. and AHS franchise player Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark.

“American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” will dramatize the 1995 murder trial that riveted a nation, but will be told through the eyes of the prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Simpson, a former NFL pro, was found not guilty in the June 1994 deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and waiter Ronald Lyle Goldman. Kim, Khloe and Kourtney’s father, Robert, was a key member on Simpson’s defense team that was led by Robert Shapiro and later Johnnie Cochran.

Murphy will direct the first episode, with production beginning early next year in Los Angeles.

This isn’t the first time Schwimmer has taken on a real-life person, as he’s played Capt. Herbert M. Sobel in HBO’s WWII miniseries “Band of Brothers” and Icchak Cukierman in the NBC TV movie “Uprising.”
