Fatberg
肥球
Fat是“脂肪”,berg是德语“山”。Fatberg是什么意思呢?请看对话:
A: A fatberg the length of a Boeing 747 was discovered underneath the streets of west London, and workers were forced to spend four days tackling the vile mass.
B: I can hardly believe it!
Note: Did it ever happen that your kitchen's pipe system got clogged up and you had to call a plumber to fix it? He might have told you that the oil washed away from your dishes and pans will mix with other stuff to form clogs. Similarly, a fatberg is a congealed lump of fat, sanitary items, wet wipes, and similar items found in sewer systems, which do not break down like toilet paper. Such deposits are officially referred to by this term by authorities at Thames Water in London.
