抓包

    zhuābāo     

    Meaning:

    "抓" means to "catch," and "包" means "package." Originally the phrase means to catch a data package infected by computer virus. Now it has the more general meaning of catching someone doing something wrong or finding out a secret.

    Example:

    A: 小丽和男朋友闹分手呢，你去劝劝吧。

    Xiǎolì hé nánpéngyou nào fēnshǒu ne, nǐ qù quànquan ba。

    Xiaoli is breaking up with her boyfriend. Try to persuade her out of the idea.

    B: 为什么事情啊？

    Wéi shénme shìqíng a?

    Why is that?

    A: 她男友上周和另一个女生一起逛街被抓包，事情传到小丽耳朵里，她很生气。

    Tā nányǒu shàngzhōu hé lìngyīgè nǚshēng yīqǐ guàngjiē bèi zhuābāo, shìqíng chuándào xiǎolì ěrduo lǐ, tā hěn shēngqì。

    Her boyfriend was caught shopping with another girl last week. When Xiaoli heard of it, she was mad.

    B: 要是换了我也很生气。

    Yàoshi huàn le wǒ yě hěn shēngqì。

    If I were Xiaoli, I would be very angry too.

    A: 她男友说了，那个女生要给自己的男朋友买一件衬衣作礼物，让他帮忙当模特试衣服。

    Tā nányǒu shuō le, nàge nǚshēng yào gěi zìjǐ de nánpéngyou mǎi yījiàn chènyī zuò lǐwù, ràng tā bāngmáng dāng mótè shì yīfu。

    Her boyfriend said that girl was buying a shirt for her boyfriend as a gift and asked him to try out the outfit instead.
