二货
èrhuò
Meaning: "二" means "two," and "货" means "goods." It's unknown why Chinese people associate the number "two" with being stupid, but this saying exists in many local dialects, with minor modifications. For example, in Sichuan dialect, a stupid guy is called "二杆子" ("the second stick"). In North China, the term is "二楞子" (the second stupid). "货" which means "goods" is kind of derogative when used to refer to a person. In a word, this term refers to a stupid and weird person. However, some netizens also use it to refer to those who are obssessed with something, such as a "足球二货" (soccer addict).
Example:
A: 你的男朋友好吗?
Nǐ de nánpéngyǒu hǎo ma?
How is your boyfriend?
B: 我跟他分手了。
Wǒ gēn tā fēnshǒu le。
I broke up with him.
A: 为什么?
Wèishénme?
Why?
B: 他实在是个二货。过生日买了个巧克力蛋糕,拍在我脸上,把我拍得流鼻血了。
Tā shízài shì gè èrhuò。Guò shēngrì mǎi le gè qiǎokèlì dàngāo, pài zài wǒ liǎn shàng, bǎ wǒ pāi de líu bíxuě le。
He's such an idiot. He bought a chocolate cake for my birthday, flung it into my face and made my nose bleeding.
