THE latest “Star Wars” film has been named the most anticipated movie of 2015.
Though “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” isn’t due out until Dec. 18 of 2015, the Internet buzz has created quite a bit of Interest.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday, more people want to see it than “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2,” “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and “Jurassic World.” Those are the other films in the top five of the most-anticipated list.
Those other franchise films will likely see huge box office numbers as well, but the annual Fandango survey apparently received a lot of votes from “Star Wars” fans.
Director J.J. Abrams is rolling out a new trilogy, continuing where George Lucas left off with Luke Skywalker many years ago. “The Force Awakens” will serve as the seventh overall film in the series and the first trailer already came out way in advance.
The first teaser trailer was a bit of a tease at just a minute and a half of footage, but there were quite a few tidbits for fans to debate about for months. It will have to suffice for quite a while as well because the movie has almost a year to go before its release date.
There are a lot of other movies set to be released in 2015 that should also bring audiences to theaters. They include “Mission Impossible 5,” “Furious 7,” and “Mad Max: Fury Road.” There is also a new James Bond picture called “Spectre” that is expected from Daniel Craig, so it is clear that people could be spending a lot of time seeing movies in the coming year. Only time will tell just how well the new “Star Wars” film does in gross receipts though.
