Bulgarian festival to welcome spring
     2015-January-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Bulgarian “Kukeri” dancers pose with their masks as they take part in the Kukeri Carnival in the village of Sirishnik, on Tuesday. The Kukeri Carnival is a festival that marks the beginning of Spring. Every participant makes his own multi-colored personal mask, covered with beads, ribbons and woolen tassels. The heavy swaying of the main mummer is meant to represent wheat and grain, and the bells tied around the waist are intended to drive away evil spirits and sickness. SD-Agencies
