‘The Big Short’ to star Pitt, Bale, Gosling
     2015-January-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BRAD PITT, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling have boarded an upcoming financial drama from Pitt’s Plan B production company, which will be directed by Adam McKay, Variety reports.

It’s one of the first major casting announcements of the year, involving three Hollywood megastars. The idea of placing Pitt, Bale and Gosling in a single feature must be something of a dream come true, as much for the director as for movie fans.

The film will be adapted from Michael Lewis’ non-fiction book “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine,” to which Plan B holds the movie rights. The bestseller examines the expansion of the housing and credit bubble that led to the 2007 financial crisis by following several people who played a key role in bringing about the disaster.

With Gosling, Bale and Pitt in the cast, Plan B is guaranteed to attract plenty of media attention through its new film, to say the least. The production company got off to a strong start with “Moneyball” in 2011, before securing its reputation with “12 Years a Slave” in 2014 and now with “Selma,” which is in theaters now.

In addition to its all-star cast, the feature has landed Adam McKay as a writer and director. So far, the American filmmaker is best known for his often raunchy comedies including “The Other Guys” and “Anchorman.”(SD-Agencies)
