THE last season of “Doctor Who” may have only recently concluded (in suitably festive fashion), but new Time Lord Peter Capaldi barely has time to rest in his Tardis.
The BBC on Wednesday revealed that filming on season nine of the sci-fi hit series has started in Cardiff, Wales.
The network also unveiled a bevy of guest stars who will be seen on the new season, set to begin airing in the fall, alongside Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, who after months of uncertainty announced in December that she would be staying on as the Doctor’s companion Clara.
Showrunner Steven Moffat in a statement touted “an amazing guest cast for a brilliantly creepy two-parter by Toby Whithouse.” He added: “Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action — for one of our scariest adventures yet!”
Alongside the time- and space-traveling twosome, U.K. comedian and actor Paul Kaye, who played Thoros of Myr in the third season of “Game of Thrones,” will appear in the new season along with Arsher Ali, fresh from appearing in the acclaimed BBC/Starz series “The Missing.”
Morven Christie is also among the guest stars.(SD-Agencies)
