    直男癌

    zhínán'ái

Meaning: "直男" means "straight men," and "癌" means "cancer." First appearing on Sina Weibo and www.douban.com, this term, which is literally translated as "straight men cancer," is a sarcastic address that criticizes men who tend to judge women and show traits of male chauvinism. These people are often not open-minded enough to accommodate different views, whether it's about fashion or politics.

    Example

    A: 小林给你介绍的男朋友怎么样?

Xiǎolín gěi nǐ jièshào de nánpéngyǒu zěnmeyàng?

How's the date Lin set you up with?

    B: 不怎么样。

    Bù zěnmeyàng。

    Not my cup of tea.

    A: 听说他是富二代?

    Tīngshuō tā shì fù'èrdài?

I heard he was born loaded?

    B: 我觉得他是直男癌晚期患者,面目可憎。

Wǒ juédé tā shì zhínán'ái wǎnqī huànzhě, miànmù kězēng。

He seems to be a male chauvinist, which I found annoying.
