Entrepreneurs get kick-start in road show

START-UPS strived to gain investment and shared business experiences at a road show over the weekend in OCT Loft, Nanshan District.

The event was carried out by BigSalad, a company focusing on organizing start-up road shows and investor meetups. BigSalad intends to offer opportunities for both start-ups and investors.

Eight teams, mostly aiming at developing smartphone applications and products, took turns presenting their business proposals at the road show. The projects were in various industries including education, health care, entertainment, and tourism. The show also invited guest speakers like Sha Xizhe, founder of KnewOne.com, and improvisational dramatists.

After the pitches, investors and audiences voted for the best start-up team. Three people in their 20s determined to improve men’s sexual abilities with a wearable fitness device called “Sixbot” got the most votes. Other popular teams included 3 Daaters, Kung Fu Travel and Thermodo.

“Sixbot can help men between 20 and 50 enhance their sexual abilities by detecting the pubococcygeus muscle, or PC muscle, and instructing them how to exercise it more scientifically,” one of the founders, Wei Mingming, said in his presentation. However, judges pointed out that the challenge for them will be to promote a sex-related product in a prudish and heavily regulated Chinese market.

Over 50 investors and 200 audience members participated in the meetup.
