Meaning:
“喷” means to “spit” or “shoot,” and “子” is a noun identifying suffix. Literally, this term means someone (something) that spits (shoots). In Chinese mafia slang, this term refers to firearms. However, a more common usage is seen among Chinese netizens, referring to people who criticize with no justifiable reasons. These people negate everything and everyone to feel good themselves.
Example:
A: 你周末又玩游戏了?
Nǐ zhōumò yòu wán yóuxì le?
So you played online games again this weekend?
B: 就玩了一会儿。
Jìu wán le yīhuìr。
Just for a short while.
A: 我才不信呢。
Wǒ cái bù xìn ne。
I don’t believe you.
B: 因为遇到一个喷子,一直在找我的茬。每每遇到这样的玩家,最让人郁闷的不是输掉这局游戏,而是影响了之后的心情。
Yīnwèi yùdào yīgè pēnzi, yīzhí zài zhǎo wǒ de chá。Měiměi yùdào zhèyàng de wánjiā, zuì ràngrén yùmèn de bùshì shūdiào zhè jú yóuxì, érshì yǐngxiǎng le zhīhòu de xīnqíng。
I met a fierce criticizer, who kept finding fault with me. Every time you meet such a guy, the biggest bummer is not losing the game, but ruining the rest of your day.
