A TEENAGER has been detained by police for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a traffic accident, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.
The 17-year-old boy attempted to flee the scene after his taxi car collided with a truck in Bao’an District at midnight Jan. 21.
His car bumped into a fence alongside the road several times during his escape. The truck driver held the teenager and handed him over to the traffic police later.
The teenager, identified as Zhang, snuck into the taxi car of his father’s colleague after drinking and drove off, according to the newspaper.
An alcohol test showed that the teenager was past the legal limit for driving. Zhang said he had gone drinking with his friends and that he didn’t remember much after that.
Zhang’s father said he had no idea how his son got the key to the taxi. (Luo Songsong)
