Spring Chinese drama feast

    A Chinese drama festival will be held from March to June. All the plays are in Mandarin.

    

    ‘Dreamy Life’

    Set in the foreign settlement area in Tianjin in the 1920-40s, the comedy centers on a poor Chinese couple who accidentally live an upper-class life.

    Time: 8 p.m., March 31

    

    ‘The Vagina Monologues’

    The play touches on female and sexual issues to explore female empowerment and individuality.

    Time: 8 p.m., April 17-19

    

    ‘Beauty Scent”

    The play centers on the friendship of two modern women.

    Time: 8 p.m., April 25-26

    

    ‘Exile’

    The play uses three real women from different times, late modern French writer Francoise Sagan, Chinese writer Lin Huiyin in the early 20th century and Chinese writer Feng Xiaoqing in the 16th century, to explore the relationship between women writers and freedom.

    Time: 8 p.m., May 8-10

    

    ‘Dear Jinzi’

    Influenced by O’Neill’s expressionist works, the play relates a succession of murders and stories of revenge set in a forest.

    Time: 8 p.m., May 15-17

    

    ‘Wolves’

    The play centers on an abduction in a modern Chinese city.

    Time: 8 p.m., May 22-24

    

    ‘80, 90’

    The comedy deals with woman-chasing-man issues in a metropolis.

    Time: 8 p.m., June 12-14

    

    ‘Balcony’

    Through chats between an artist student, a failed investor, a robbed wealthy couple from nowhere who gather accidentally on a balcony, the play explores social issues.

    Time: 8 p.m., June 27-28
