僵尸男

    jiāngshīnán

    Meaning: "僵尸" means "zombie," and "男" is a "man." Chinese netizens use the term "zombie" as a metaphor to refer to guys who are professional, knowledgeable and nerdy. These people live in their own academic world and don't know the fun of living an ordinary life.

    Example:

    A: 姨妈给你介绍的男朋友怎么样？

    Yímā gěi nǐ jièshào de nánpéngyǒu zěnme yàng?

    How do you like the guy your aunt introduced to you?

    B: 他不是我喜欢的类型。

    Tā búshì wǒ xǐhuān de lèixíng。

    He is not my type.

    A: 听说他是大学老师，相貌也还英俊。

    Tīngshuō tā shì dàxué lǎoshī, xiàngmào yě hái yīngjùn。

    I hear that he is a college teacher and sort of handsome.

    B: 他是计算机系的，博士毕业留校，十足僵尸男。他不看电影、不听音乐、不唱歌、不说笑也不运动，唯一的娱乐就是编程序和打游戏。

    Tā shì jìsuànjī xì de, bóshì bìyè líuxiào, shízú jiāngshīnán。Tā bú kàn diànyǐng、bù tīng yīnyuè、bú chànggē、bù shuōxiào yě bú yùndòng, wéiyī de yúlè jìushì biān chéngxù hé dǎ yǒuxì。

    He graduated with a doctor's degree in computer science and now teaches in the same university. He is totally a "zombie" (nerd). He doesn't watch movies, or listen to the music, or sing, or joke or exercise. His only entertainment is compiling programs and playing computer games.
