鸭霸

    yābà

    Meaning: "鸭" means "duck," and "霸" means "tyrannical." Originating from Fujian dialect, this slang term is also widely used in Taiwan. It's often used to describe those who are self-centered, stubborn and do not consider other people's feelings. The most well-known person nicknamed "King Duck" was Chen Chi-li, the late leader of the Bamboo Union gang in Taiwan.

    Example

    A: 中午我约了别人吃饭，你的雨伞借我用用。

    Zhōngwǔ wǒ yuē le biérén chīfàn, nǐ de yǔsǎn jiè wǒ yòngyòng。

    I have a lunch appointment today and want to borrow your umbrella.

    B: 我也要出去的，你找别人借吧。

    Wǒ yě yào chūqù de, nǐ zhǎo biérén jiè ba。

    I myself will use it when I get out. Ask someone else.

    A: 你不就是去楼下食堂，两步路，还是把伞借给我吧。

    Nǐ bù jìushì qù lóuxià shítáng, liǎngbù lù, háishì bǎ sǎn jiègěi wǒ ba。

    Won't you just go downstairs to the canteen? It's a short walk away. Just lend me your umbrella.

    B: 不借就是不借，你不要这么鸭霸。

    Bùjiè jìushì bùjiè, nǐ bùyào zhème yābà。

    I won't. Don't be a bully.
