U.S. country superstar Shania Twain announced a 48-city North American tour Wednesday, her first in 11 years — but she says it will be her last.
In an appearance on “Good Morning America,” Twain, 49, offered up the bittersweet news as she prepares to perform around the United States and Canada on her Shania Rocks This Country tour, which will kick off in June in Seattle.
“I’m finally going back on tour,” she told TV host Robin Roberts in a live appearance.
“This is going to be a big tour for me because it’s going to be my last,” the Windsor, Ontario, native shared.
When Twain was asked what her strength has been through her musical career, her cheating husband, and her messy divorce, she gave a lot of credit to her fans. “I look to others for more strength,” she said. “I look for the courage in others and then I find mine.” She added, “I think that’s why I love being with the fans. I love getting out into the audience. I like hearing their stories. I like talking to them during the show.”
Twain made her musical comeback after years off and away from the charts. Between 1993 and 2011, she sold more than 11 million albums worldwide. She lived in Switzerland for several years with then-husband Robert “Mutt” Lange, raising their son, Eja. They divorced in 2010, and she married current husband Frederic Thiebaud in 2011.
Twain also said that she is working on a new record, as well, that will come out after her 48-city tour ends. “I want it to come out when I’m 50, so it will happen,” said Twain, who will turn 50 in August. (SD-Agencies)
