THE James Bond film “Spectre” just got its newest Bond girl: Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman. The actress wrote on Instagram, “dreams do come true” after getting the job.
The studio announced the new cast member over Facebook: “The Mexican actress [Stephanie Sigman] was the lead in the Academy Awards nominated ‘Miss Bala’ (2011) and also starred in Norway’s submission for Best Film at this year’s Oscars, ‘Pioneer’ (2013). Her recent TV appearances include, ‘The Bridge’ (2013) and ‘Narcos’ (2015).”
According to Fox New Latino, the 28-year-old from Ciudad Obregon will be the second Latina Bond girl, the first being Lupe Lamora, who played Talisa Soto in the 1989 film “License to Kill.”
Sigman may have landed the role, but she might be stuck in the shadow of the first “Bond woman.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Monica Bellucci will appear in “Spectre” as James Bond’s 50-year-old love interest. Before Bellucci, the oldest woman to play one of the British spy’s romantic interests was Honor Blackman, who played Pussy Galore in “Goldfinger” and was 39 years old. When director Sam Mendes called Bellucci for the role, he described the character as a “mature woman.”
Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as James Bond. “Spectre” will hit theaters in November.(SD-Agencies)
