Australian anti-fascist documentary released
     2015-March-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A NEW documentary about Australia’s anti-fascist history during World War II has been released.

The documentary recalls the story of port laborers who refused to load iron onto ships that would eventually be used to make weapons for the Japanese army during its invasion of China.

Around 700 people turned out for the premiere of the documentary in Australia.

“I was born in 1938 and, therefore, it’s sort of a memory for me as well. I believe that a lot of lessons can be learned from this, especially after the Second World War, when that started,” said director Sandra Pires. She spent four years working on the film, shooting in both Australia and China.

Her film also includes testimonies from survivors of the Nanjing massacre.(SD-Agencies)
