2-year-old named youngest archer
     2015-March-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE India Book of Records announced a 2-year-old girl has been certified as the country’s youngest archer after showing off her accuracy.

Dolly Sivani Cherukuri, a Vijaywada toddler who will turn 3 years old Thursday, shot a total 72 arrows from distances of 15 feet (4.57 m) and 22 feet for a total score of 388 Tuesday at the Volga Archery Academy in front of officials from the India Book of Records.

“Dolly has become the youngest archer,” Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, an official with the record-keeping organization, said. “The record will be tough to break.”

Cherukuri Satyanarayana, the girl’s father, said she comes from a family of archers. Her late brother, Lenin Cherukuri, coached the Indian archery team for the Commonwealth Games prior to his death in 2010.

“We are all very proud of her. We are very impressed,” Archery Association of India official Gunjan Abrol said.(SD-Agencies)
