Staff help Solar Impulse 2 move to the parking area at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport yesterday. The world’s largest solar-powered plane flew from Myanmar to Chongqing as part of an historic round-the-world journey promoting renewable energy use. Two Swiss pilots Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg have been taking turns at the controls of the plane, which began its journey in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on March 9. It flies next to the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing before heading to Hawaii on its five-month trip.
Pilots Bertrand Piccard (2nd R) and Andre Boschberg (2nd L) pose for pictures with Swiss Ambassador to China, Jean-Jacques de Dardel (R), and Deputy Secretary-General of the Chongqing Municipal Government, Ai Yang (L), in front of the Solar Impulse 2 at the Chongqing airport yesterday.
