Mom snaps surreal pictures of her kids
     2015-April-2  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A STAY-AT-HOME mom’s surreal iPhone snaps of her children have seen her rack up more than 500,000 Instagram fans.

Ali Jardine, 42, photographs silhouettes of her two kids in fairy tale environments from a spiraling night sky to sunsets.

The creative mom has gained a dedicated following online since she got her first iPhone in November 2010.

And due to her success, Jardine, from Petaluma in California, has been able to monetize her work — helping the likes of HP and Samsung with Instagram campaigns.

Her children Gabriel, 15, and Pippin, 12, are usually willing subjects as long as Jardine doesn’t pester them with the camera too often.

Before creating her work she usually has an idea brewing for some time inspired by anything from music or what she reads.

Having decided upon the background images she then layers other photographs to build the scene.

She said: “Since the day my kids were born I have been acutely aware of how fast the world is spinning. What I love most about mobile art and photography is how accessible it is to so many.

“People being able to express themselves is incredibly important, and now the power to do that is in the palm of our hand. I think that changes everything and I am thrilled to be part of it.” (SD-Agencies)
