“TWILIGHT” star Kristen Stewart is in talks to join “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” which Ang Lee is directing.
TriStar and Film4 are partnering with Studio 8 on the project, which is an adaptation of Ben Fountain’s novel. The Wrap reported that Stewart would be joining a cast which already includes Steve Martin, Garrett Hedlund and newcomer Joe Alwyn.
The film centers around 19-year-old Private Billy (Alwyn) who survives a battle in Iraq, which is captured by news cameras. He and his company of soldiers are brought back to the United States for a promotional tour culminating in a halftime show at a Thanksgiving Day football game. Most of the movie takes place during the day of the game, with flashbacks to the wartime events. Stewart would be playing the role of Kathryn, Billy’s older sister.
Simon Beaufoy wrote the screenplay. Beaufoy is known for winning an Oscar for his work on Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire.”
“The most important thing to me is storytelling and ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’ is a story that immediately gripped me. I look forward to starting the creative process with this extraordinary team of collaborators,” said Lee.(SD-Agencies)
