骚年
     2015-April-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

“骚” means “flirty,” and “年” means “year.” This term, however, is the Fujian dialect pronunciation for “少年” (teens). Chinese netizens have jokingly used it to refer to “teens,” with an implication that beneath the awkward silence of teens are their restless young souls craving for romance and all the other excitement of life yet to spread before them. Some say this term is better used on sentimental teens.

    Example:

    A: 你有没有对小美表白?

    Nǐ yǒuméiyǒu duì xiǎoměi biǎobái?

Have you told Xiaomei that you care for her?

    B: 我一直找不到合适的机会。

Wǒ yīzhí zhǎobùdào héshì de jīhuì。

I haven’t found the right time.

    A: 抓紧啊,骚年。毕业已经近在眼前了。

    Zhuājǐn a, sāonián。Bìyè yǐjīng jìnzàiyǎnqián le。

Seize the day, kid. Graduation is imminent.

    B: 也许还是等她自己意识到我喜欢她更好。

Yěxǔ háishì děng tā zìjǐ yìshí dào wǒ xǐhuan tā gèng hǎo。

Perhaps I’d better wait for her to realize that I have a thing for her.

    A: 不是吧,你等女生先开口吗?

Bùshì ba, nǐ děng nǚshēng xiān kāikǒu ma?

No way. Are you waiting for a girl to say “I love you” first?
