SENIOR GUIZHOU OFFICIAL GETS 16 YEARS FOR BRIBERY

Liao Shaohua, former Party chief of Zunyi City in Guizhou Province and a member of the standing committee of the provincial CPC committee, stands trial in a Xi’an court in Shaanxi Province on Thursday. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison for taking bribes worth more than 13.2 million yuan (US$2 million) and abuse of power.
