THE Artist-in-Residence Taipei program (AIR Taipei) is now accepting applications. The deadline for the online application is June 4, 2015.
The program is an annual international program that promotes multinational and cross-disciplinary collaboration. It offers interactions and helps create intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogs that resonate between communities and individuals.
Residents will participate in an eight- to 12-week project during their residencies.
There are two residencies available this year, Taipei Artist Village (TAV) and Treasure Hill Artist Village (THAV). Successful applicants will be provided with free accommodations and studio spaces at one of the villages.
This year’s program only recruits artists in the following fields: visual art, performances art, music, architecture, literature, curatorial and cultural research, arts administration and interdisciplinary arts.
The applicants, who can be both individual artists or artistic groups with a maximum of four members, must have a minimum of three years of experience or professional practice as well as a working knowledge of English and Mandarin. Students are not eligible to apply.
More detail information can be found at www.artistvillage.org.

TAIPEI Artist Village
TAIPEI Artist Village is a four-story building located in the heart of Taiwan’s vibrant governmental district in Taipei. Secluded within a tranquil garden, this renovated public office building that once belonged to the Taipei City Department of Public Maintenance and Construction is breathing new life into bustling downtown Taipei. Since it was established, it has actively launched the AIR program as well as artist exchange programs with other international artist residence centers in different cities around the world.
Treasure Hill Artist Village
LOCATED along the Xindian River in Taipei City, Treasure Hill Artist Village was listed in 2011 as the first “historic settlement” of Taipei. The unique location of Treasure Hill, with its narrow alleys and winding stairways across the hill, gives the village a rural sense. Over the years, various groups settled on the hillside, each with their own lifestyles and needs, creating a tribal-like organic scene.
