THE first job fair for Chinese who have studied abroad, an important event for the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), will be held in Hall 2 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Saturday.

More than 100 top companies such as ZTE, DJI, VIVO, OPPO, Vanguard, BYD and Mindray will attend the fair. They are offering more than 1,000 posts to Chinese who are returning with an overseas education.

The jobs include technical posts such as program designer and research analyst. Other work includes marketing, accounting and operation maintenance.

Statistics from Shenzhen’s human resources and social security bureau showed Shenzhen received 4,275 Chinese with an overseas education in 2014. Around 85 percent of them, or 3,634, were employed in the financial industry, information transmission and computing, manufacturing and education. A total of 481 returned professionals chose to start their own businesses, accounting for 11.2 percent of the total.

Most of them are graduates of American or European universities and 20 percent graduated from the world’s top 100 universities and colleges.

So far, the city has received 55,000 Chinese professionals returning from abroad and 80 percent of them were non-local hukou holders before they started jobs here.

For this year’s CIEP, the organizer has designated special exhibition areas for overseas professionals in business negotiations, project planning and talent introduction. More than 600 overseas professionals from 27 countries will attend with their latest research products, covering various sectors such as biomedicine, medical equipment, IT, new energy, new materials, energy efficiency and modern services.

Another job fair specially designed for foreign jobseekers will be held in Hall 3 on Saturday.

The organizer will offer more than 300 vacancies for foreign jobseekers.

More than 50 enterprises such as FAW Group Corp., Huawei Technologies, China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co. Ltd. and Hainan Airlines will participate. Universities such as Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Technology and the Dongguan Institute of Science and Technology will be there. Training centers, such as English First, will also attend the fair.

This year’s CIEP has attracted international companies, foreign expert agencies, research institutes, educational institutions and human resources agencies from 80 countries and regions.
