David Duchovny dishes on new ‘X Files’
     2015-May-1  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“THE X Files” is officially coming back with the original cast, leaving fans not only rejoicing but also scratching their heads as to how it will return.

Lead star David Duchovny has revealed how he envisions the return like a “six-hour movie.” In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the star opened up about how the TV show will make its comeback 13 years after it wrapped on the small screen.

“When I was doing the show, I always assumed — because we started to do the movies — that we would naturally transition to not carrying the load of doing a full season of the show but doing a movie every four or five years,” the actor, who plays Fox Mulder, said.

“That didn’t work out with the movies. The second movie did well, but I guess not well enough. We all started to think, ‘I don’t mind doing it on TV if we don’t have to do a full season — we just could make it like a six-hour movie.’”

Production for the reboot is scheduled to kick off this summer, with Gillian Anderson reprising her role as Scully.

“It’s going to be the same show. It’s obviously going to be different times and the characters are going to be older and all of the things that are going to be changing naturally will change,” he said.

“But all the principals are back. Chris Carter will be there, Gillian Anderson will be there, I’ll be there and we can all check on each other and say, ‘Is this the show?’ Because we’ll find it. It’s just a matter of relaxing and letting it happen.”

“The X-Files” initially ran from 1993 until 2002, accruing a massive cult following with the opening credits ending with the famous tagline “the truth is out there.”

Series creator Chris Carter hinted at a reboot last summer, but the fans were expecting a movie.(SD-Agencies)
