    “重口味”， or “heavy taste,” originally means dishes with strong spicy and salty flavors. In recent years, it has been widely used by Chinese Internet users to describe something disgusting, such as explicit or horrific movie scenes, cartoons and novels. The antonym for “重口味” is “小清新”, which means something fresh, pure, natural and easy-going.
