IVF triplets born three years apart
     2015-May-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WHEN British mother Sarah Swann tells people her three children are triplets they can’t believe it.

Triplet brother George arrived into the world three years before his sister Lilah and brother Noah — but they were all conceived at the same time.

Swann didn’t start trying for a family until she was 40.

She had to turn to IVF to help her in her mammoth battle — and she gave birth to twins Noah and Lila at the age of 45, at the end of January.

Swann, an IT Systems Manager, who lives in Leicester, said, “It is amazing to think my triplets were born three years apart. People can’t believe it when I tell them that they were all conceived at the same time.

“Once he had got used to the idea, George couldn’t wait to meet his baby brother and sister. My family is finally complete after all this time.”

Swann first underwent a course of IVF treatment at the London Women’s Clinic but it was unsuccessful.

Then in September 2011 she started a second course of IVF treatment, this time at CARE Fertility in Nottingham.

Doctors managed to retrieve five good-quality eggs, which were all successfully fertilized.

Two were put back into her womb and three were put in the freezer. She discovered she was pregnant two weeks later.

She said, “I was thrilled when I knew the treatment had worked and I was actually pregnant. The first three months I was on tenterhooks in case anything went wrong.”

Baby George arrived into the world weighing 8.8 pounds (3.99 kg) at Leicester Royal Infirmary, then in May last year, Swann decided to try for another baby.

She underwent another course of IVF treatment and had two embryos put into her womb.

Two weeks later she discovered she was pregnant. A scan showed that she was actually pregnant with twins.

Her pregnancy went smoothly and she delivered both the twins naturally at Leicester Royal Infirmary in January, Noah weighing 6.4 pounds and Lilah weighing 5.13 pounds.(SD-Agencies)
