THE 2015 BAFTA TV Awards was held in the United Kingdom on Sunday night at the Theater Royal in London.
TV hosts Ant and Dec picked up two prizes for their hit show “Saturday Night Takeaway.”
“Sherlock Holmes” won the Radio Times audience award, beating the likes of “The Great British Bake Off” and “The Game of Thrones.”
The show’s star Benedict Cumberbatch missed out on a television award for his portrayal of the master detective.
Instead the leading actor award went to Jason Watkins for his portrayal of the accused murderer in ITV’s drama “Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.”
Best actress went to Georgina Campbell for her role in “Murdered by My Boyfriend.”
The career of broadcaster and TV critic Clive James, who is seriously ill, was also celebrated at the event.
In the international category HBO’s “True Detective” won the top prize. Lifetime achievement awards were received by newscaster Jon Snow and screenwriter Jeff Pope.
The BAFTA is the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, an independent British charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image.(SD-Agencies)
