The three ex-police officers were tried for allegedly beating a woman to death after a dispute at a construction site in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi, in December last year. They were accused of intentional injury and abuse of power. A verdict is due at a later date. The incident took place Dec. 13, when the 47-year-old victim Zhou Xiuyun’s son Wang Kuilin and three other workers came to the construction site, where they worked, seeking back pay.
