Burglar nabbed by police after dozing off ‘on the job’
     2015-May-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN from Florida, the U.S., is facing felony burglary charges after police said he broke into a Sarasota home before falling asleep on the couch.

Officers arrested Timothy Bontrager, 29, Saturday morning, charging him with felony burglary of an occupied dwelling, the Bradenton Herald reports.

Police said Bontrager entered a home through a rear sliding glass door at some point in the night. The homeowner, an unidentified female, woke around 7 a.m. to find him sleeping on the couch inside the dwelling.

After waking Bontrager up, she called the police. The burglar apologized and stumbled around the living room before exiting the house, taking with him the victim’s wallet, driver’s license, credit and debit cards as well as personal checks — all of which had been left on the living room table.

Police arrived on scene before catching up to Bontrager as he walked down the road. He is being held in the Sarasota County jail.

Last September a similar incident occurred in Sarasota when a woman cleaning a home found a burglar asleep on a bed, a bag of stolen jewelry at his side.(SD-Agencies)
