Here come sirens, MICappella
     2015-May-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Singaporean a cappella group MICappella and Taiwanese a cappella band Sirens will perform Saturday.

MICappella made their debut after winning second place on “The Sing-Off,” a Chinese X-Factor-style competition for a cappella groups.

MICappella, only half of which are full-time musicians, has performed at events such as the Singapore Youth Olympics in 2010 and the Singapore E-Awards in 2011. The band also represented Singapore at Taiwan’s premier singing competition “Super Idol 5” in 2011 and was the only Southeast Asian group invited to perform alongside singer-songwriter Khalil Fong during the Hong Kong International A Cappella Extravaganza 2010.

In 2013, the band graced the stage of many international festivals such as AMC Live! in Chengdu, the Fringe Arts Festival in Shenzhen and the Strawberry Festival in Beijing and Shanghai.

The group released their debut album “Here We Go,” which consists of two original songs, “Here We Go” and “Forget It,” in April 2013. In May 2013, MICappella held the sold-out concert “Late Nite @ Esplanade: MICappella — Here We Go” at Esplanade Recital Studio. During the Singapore Hit Awards 2013, MICappella won the award for local media nominated singer.

Last year, MICappella toured China, with their first stop at the Shanghai Daning Music Festival in October 2014. That same month, MICappella was recommended by Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean to perform at the Art Performance for the 20th Anniversary of China Singapore Cooperative Suzhou Industrial Park as a Singapore representative.
