Ng Chun-yu settles disputes with Hunan TV
     2015-May-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

HONG KONG actor Francis Ng Chun-yu said at a sportswear publicity event Saturday in Beijing that he has settled his disputes with Hunan TV regarding compensation for an injury his son sustained during a shoot for the station’s popular reality show, “Where Are We Going Daddy?” last September.

On Tuesday, Ng expressed frustration during the premiere of his new film “Love Without Distance” in Beijing, saying it’s totally unacceptable that his boy hasn’t yet received compensation.

Seven-year-old Feynman suffered an eye injury while shooting the show in New Zealand. Ng said the boy has suffered permanent damage. Ng says he is furious because the network has not taken responsibility for the injury nor compensated his son.

In the meantime, the TV channel has responded through its official Weibo account, saying that the insurance process is ongoing because Ng has not provided any medical appraisal of his son’s injury.

During Saturday’s event, Ng brought his son and explained that Hunan TV sent executives to handle the issue and they have reached an agreement. He confirmed that he had not provided the needed medical appraisal and said the incident will not mar any future cooperation between him and the station. Ng also said his son’s eyesight is acceptable for now but will need long-term care.

Another party involved in the incident was Malaysian-Chinese singer-songwriter Gary Chaw, whose son Joe and daughter Grace were accused of pushing Feynman during the shoot, causing his injury. Chaw expressed anger on his Weibo account after people involved his children in the incident, saying Ng himself must know the truth. He also implied that Ng’s public display of rage regarding the issue Tuesday was a publicity stunt for his new movie.(Li Dan)
