Have a big head
     2015-May-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Have a big head字面解释是“有一个大脑袋”,这是什么意思呢?请看对话:

    A: How was your holiday?

B: I planned to go visiting museums in Spain but the trip was canceled.

    A: Why?

B: Because my boyfriend insisted on going to an island to enjoy sunshine on the beach.

A: You guys always go to the beach on holidays.

B: I’ve tried to reason with him but he has such a big head that he won’t listen.

Note: Other than the literal meaning of having a “big” head, the phrase means to be conceited and have an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or ability. Sometimes, it’s termed “big-headed.” On the other hand, “big head” can also refer to “hangover.” For example: That booze gave me a big head! I won’t be able to go to work this morning.
