路怒
     2015-May-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

“路” means “road,” and “怒” means “rage.” Road rage is aggressive or angry behavior by a driver of an automobile or other road vehicle. Such behavior might include rude gestures, verbal insults, deliberately driving in an unsafe or threatening manner or making threats. Road rage can lead to altercations, assaults and collisions that result in injuries and even deaths. It can be thought of as an extreme case of aggressive driving. The term was first used on TV in the United States in 1987 and 1988, when a rash of freeway shootings occurred on freeways in Los Angeles. With more people driving on busy city roads, the term became widely known and used in China.

    Example:

    A: 今天上班路上遇到一个奇葩司机,强行变道还不打灯。我按了一下喇叭没让他。

Jīntiān shàngbān lùshang yùdào yīgè qípā sījī, qiángxíng biàndào hái bù dǎdēng。Wǒ àn le yīxià lǎbā méi ràng tā。

I ran into a terrible driver on the road to work this morning. He tried to change lanes forcedly, even without flashing the light. I pushed the horn once and didn’t give way.

    B: 那你也犯不着生气啊。

Nà nǐ yě fànbùzháo shēngqì a。

But there is no need for you to be angry.

    A: 他有严重的路怒,故意从后面撞了我的车。

Tā yǒu yànzhòng de lùnù,gùyì cóng hòumiàn zhuàng le wǒ de chē。

He had a serious problem of road rage and intentionally rearended my car.
