宅童
zháitóng
Meaning: "宅" means "home," and "童" refers to "children." Similar to "宅男" and "宅女" (adults who prefer staying at home rather than going out and mixing with people), "宅童" are children who like to stay at home playing video games. These children do not like sports and seldom have real-life friends. This kind of kids are similar to nerds, but they are not exactly the same.
Example:
A: 快放暑假了,你的孩子谁管?
Kuài fàng shǔjià le, nǐ de háizi shéi guǎn?
The summer vacation will start soon. Who will take care of your child?
B: 我正发愁呢。他自己在家一定是天天上网玩游戏,视力下降,生活很不健康。
Wǒ zhèng fāchóu ne。Tā zìjǐ zàijiā yīdìng shì tiāntiān shàngwǎng wán yóuxì, shìlì xiàjiàng, shēnghuó hěn bù jiànkāng。
That is what troubles me. He will stay at home playing online games, which is very unhealthy and harms his eyesight.
A: 这不是典型的宅童吗?你赶紧给他报名参加培训班或者夏令营吧。
Zhè bùshì diǎnxíng de zháitóng ma? Nǐ gǎnjǐn gěi tā bàomíng cānjiā péixùnbān huòzhě xiàlìngyíng ba。
Isn't he a typical young homebody? You should send him to some kind of training program or summer camp.
