Japanese artist creates animals with balloons
     2015-June-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LOOKING for something to help your children’s party go off with a bang?

These amazing balloon animals put birthday party clowns to shame — and the incredible creatures are really taking off.

Masayoshi Matsumoto, 25, from Japan, relies only on everyday balloons to create the lifelike animals — even their beady little eyes are made from balloons.

Rather than just one balloon, Matsumoto uses multiple layers to give his animals a realistic edge.

With a few twists of some plain balloons he manages to make an astoundingly authentic eagle which looks like it has been caught mid-flight, and a sly wasp with a sting in its tail.

“While I was doing balloon art, I’ve been inclined to make lifelike balloon animals and insects,” he said.

“I’ve liked creatures since I was small, and I’ve been inspired by wildlife pictures.”

Matsumoto, a chemical engineer, creates the incredibly intricate balloon sculptures in his spare time as a hobby.
