    ‘Star Trek 4’

PARAMOUNT recently inked a deal with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto to guarantee the actors substantial raises in “Star Trek Beyond.” Pine made only US$600,000 for the 2009 reboot of the series. However, the new contract will see him earn a satisfying US$6 million.

“Fast and Furious 6” director Justin Lin is taking over from JJ Abrams to helm the new project with Doug Jung and cast member Simon Pegg penning the script.

    Box office

ACTION comedy “Hollywood Adventures” has earned a grand opening take of 55 million yuan (US$8.85m) at the Chinese box office. Directed by Timothy Kendall, the film stars Zhao Wei, Huang Xiaoming and Tong Dawei.

The film follows the story of three Chinese tourists in Hollywood caught in a drug trafficking case. Ten movies opened in theaters Friday, including Oscar-nominated “Begin Again” and Taiwan movie “Hear Me,” which opened six years after its premiere.

    ‘The Trial’

KEVIN COSTNER may be headed to Amazon. The two-time Oscar winner is in negotiations to star in the company’s new legal drama from David E. Kelley. If the deal works out, “The Trial” would get a straight to series order and forgo the traditional pilot process.
