TV report reveals sexual services at KTV
     2015-July-3  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IT’S an open secret that some KTVs provide sexual services. One female reporter got a first-hand look at the industry during an undercover report aired on the Public Channel of Shenzhen TV Station on Thursday.

The report found that a KTV in Luohu District seems to provide the illegal services.

The KTV was not named in the report, but it is owned by Eastern Lily Hotel Management Co. Ltd.

It hires “waitresses” through an online recruitment platform and offers them extra money for providing sexual services, the Public Channel of Shenzhen TV Station reported.

“You could choose the ‘fast-food’ service, which lasts for 40 minutes. You’ll gain at least 1,500 yuan (US$245) from it,” said the assistant to the KTV manager, who did not give her name. “Another is ‘sleeping over,’ which will earn you around 2,000 to 3,000 yuan. Or you could receive clients at hotels.”

One of the KTV employees, surnamed Chen, explained the hiring process, including that women are sent to different places based on their looks.

Girls between 16 and 25 years old are hired, according to Chen. They are divided into three tiers based on their appearance and then sent to work in different cities.

“The best quality might go to Zhuhai,” Chen said.

A “waitress” has to talk with the guests, drink with guests and sing karaoke, as her basic job responsibilities.

It is illegal to provide sexual services on the Chinese mainland. Dongguan, which was once known as China’s sex capital, witnessed a crackdown on sex workers in 2014. (Zhang Xiaoyi)
