THIS year’s Taipei Film Festival has just concluded with the drama film “Thanatos, Drunk” taking home six awards, including the Grand Prix — the awards show’s highest honor.
The Grand Prix was chosen from the winners of four categories, including feature, documentary, short and animation.
“Thanatos, Drunk” was the first feature to claim the prize in six years.
Directed by Golden Horse-winning director Chang Tso-chi, the film also won best feature, best leading actor, best supporting actor and actress and press award.
The film follows the story of a mother, a pair of brothers and a tenant who live under the same roof.
The best director award went to Taiwan-based Tsai Ming-liang for his work “No No Sleep.”
Japanese actress Nagasaku Hiromi took home the best actress award for her role in “The Furthest End Awaits.”
This year’s jury was headed by Hong Kong director and producer Fruit Chan.
