Officials probed for alleged corruption
     2015-July-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LIANG GUIMING, a member of the Party committee of Gongming Subdistrict, Guangming New Area, is being probed for serious disciplinary violations, according to the Guangming Party Committee on Thursday.

The Disciplinary Inspection Commission of the Guangming Party Committee acted on a clue provided by a deputy chief of the land requisition and relocation office of Gongming, surnamed Chen, who claimed to have given 250,000 yuan (US$40,323) in bribes to Liang. Under the protection of Liang, Chen abused his power to cheat compensation funds for land requisition and relocation through falsified documents.

Liang, now in his 50s, was in charge of the subdistrict’s land requisition and relocation.

Previously, Liang received a demerit over a fatal fire at an agriculture produce market that killed 16 and injured five others in May last year.

Separately, the city’s Party disciplinary inspection commission said Wednesday on its official website that Zhang Qiwen, former Party chief and director of the Shenzhen Water Resources Bureau, was investigated for serious disciplinary violations.

The investigation began just five days after Zhang stepped down from his post at the bureau and was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the Sixth Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Zhang, born in 1957, has served as the head of Yantian District Government, deputy secretary general of the city government and Party chief of the city’s quality and technical supervisory bureau before he was appointed as head of the water resources bureau in August 2009. (Han Ximin)
