POLICE in Longhua New Area have opened an investigation into an attack on a doctor at a local hospital, triggered by a dispute caused by a female patient over medical examination results.
On Wednesday morning, the young woman, surnamed Deng, came into the ward of the gynecology department of Longhua People’s Hospital with a knife and started chasing a doctor, named Ji. When Deng was apprehended by security guards, Deng’s relatives injured the security guards with fruit knives. Doctor Ji was not injured in the scuffle.
It was the third time in five days Deng has sought revenge from Doctor Ji, who performed surgery on Deng’s ectopic pregnancy two years ago.
After the surgery, Deng has frequent headaches and later suffered from convulsions and symptoms of cerebral hemorrhage. After the hospital’s re-examination, Deng was transferred to Shenzhen No. 2 People’s Hospital for treatment.
But, after being discharged from the hospital, Deng felt that one side of her limbs was stiff and inflexible.
She then applied for a judicial evaluation, which concluded that Longhua People’s Hospital should bear 21 to 40 percent of the responsibility and Deng should partly bear the expenses caused by pathological changes in brain blood vessel.
Deng and her husband expressed dissatisfaction with the hospital over the results.
