Pilot cheats death after plane flips over
     2015-August-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A PILOT had a miraculous escape after he walked away unscathed from the wreckage of his plane which flipped over as it landed at an airfield.

The Cessna light aircraft was coming into Halfpenny Green Airport in Bobbington, Staffordshire, Britain, earlier Saturday when the pilot got into difficulties.

But as the plane touched down, it flipped over and came to rest on its roof in the middle of the runway.

But luckily, the pilot managed to scramble away from the wreckage of the aircraft in the incident, which happened at around 10:30 a.m.

An ambulance crew, paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance based at RAF Cosford, attended the scene.

But after being checked over by medics, the pilot did not require any further treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said, “The pilot, a man in his 30s, got out.

“He was checked over by the Midlands Air Ambulance doctor and had no injuries on him, just a few aches and pains.”

Soon after, the airport returned to normal operations after the emergency services were shut down.

Alistair McKinnon, the airport’s operations manager, told the Shropshire Star: “The pilot was landing the standard training plane at the time.

“It eventually came in to rest in an inverted position on the runway.

“We immediately sent out our own fire safety team, which we have based here at the airport. Everything was back up to normal soon after.”
