    ‘By the Sea’

ANGELINA JOLIE PITT’S drama “By the Sea” is set to make its world premiere

Nov. 5, as the opening film of AFI Fest, by the American Film Institute.

The film follows an American writer and his wife as they arrive in a picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France with their marriage on the rocks. It is Jolie’s directorial follow-up to the film “Unbroken.”

    Premiere canceled

ONE of the most anticipated screenings of the Venice Film Fest has been canceled this year. Martin Scorsese’s short film “The Audition” will not debut at the festival as previously planned.

The festival said in a statement: “We have just been informed by the production that due to unexpected technical problems the film could not be here in time.”

Scorsese stars in the film, which has him pitting his frequent collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro against each other for a leading role in an upcoming film. Brad Pitt also makes an appearance.

    Lucy Liu welcomes baby

THE “Charlie’s Angels” actress made the announcement about her newborn son on Instagram. The 46-year-old Liu posted a photo of herself holding her son. A representative for Liu said the actress had a gestational carrier for her son, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    Woody Allen movie

STEVE CARELL will replace Bruce Willis in the new Woody Allen movie. The new movie is shooting in Los Angeles with a starry lineup, including Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively and Parker Posey, among many others.

Willis was spotted on set and in costume with Eisenberg, but abruptly left the production. The reasons for his departure remain murky.

Carell was nominated for an Oscar in 2014 for his role in the film “Foxcatcher.” He appeared in Allen’s 2004 movie “Melinda and Melinda.”
